The Winston Reid Situation.
By all reports across the internet negotiations have come to end regarding Reids contract. It is highly likely that he will be off to either Man U or Arsenal during the January transfer window, if these reports are to be believed.

The transfer fee will be unrealistically considering he is out of contract in the Summer..Arsenal are certainly in need of a central defender od Reids talent and seem to be the front runner if you believe the media bollox on this.

How about a straight swap. Reid for Jenkinson? It wouldn't solve a central defender dilemma that would exist should Reid leave but it would shore up our right back position for the next five or so years.

Thoughts please?

He will go to Man Utd.

We'll do very well do get 6m for him.

Big shame but I don't begrudge him leaving for a bigger club.

Re: The Winston Reid Situation.
It doesn't make any sense to sell him in January. If the team is still doing well and in with a chance of a top six place and there is not a very good replacement lined up then why mess up our chances.
There is at least 1.2m on every league place and our chances of finishing higher and having a cup run have got to be better by keeping the side together.

Let him go on a free at the end of the year to a mid table club like Man Utd.

Would be gutted to see him go but thats the way Football goes.

I think he'd be crazy to leave us to be honest, he has the chance of going from Championship to Europe with us, I would have though he would have liked to see that through, especially with the new stadium on the horizon.

Good luck to him really he obviously thinks he can get better money else where..

If he thinks he's that good then I hope he signs for a top four side if not then a waste of time

We're offering the right money for his ability and I'd like to think he may think what we've done for his career

If not fuck him I've seen better over the years

Ie Simon Webster

I think Jenkinson is the only loan player we have with NO buy option. I would be happy with straight swap, good for us and good for them really.

He may indeed leave in the summer but why would we release him for a small fee in Jan?

He is under contract until the summer and stay he will.

Re: The Winston Reid Situation.
I say let the cunt rot in the reserves for the rest of the year if he is going to screw us by letting his contract run down.

West Ham is about belonging whether your a player or a fan, i want to watch players who want to play for the shirt not players who are all in it for themselves and are basically fucking the club

Re: The Winston Reid Situation.
If he goes to Man U, life will be miserable as he'll be the only proper defender they have.

I'd take a straight swap for Jenkinson. We have tomkins and collins to cover while we find a replacement. Not ideal, but workable. I have a feeling Reid will be worse off in a year or so than he would be if he stays. Just a feeling.

Re: The Winston Reid Situation.
I don't think he's screwing us as his performances on the pitch have been totally committed.

With our full-backs bombing on and particularly Cresswell still learning the defensive part of the role of left-back it puts a mountain of pressure on our central defenders.

Let's face it, whatever we pay we're not going to get a youngish player of the same calibre as Winston Reid The kid's a fantastic player. I wanted him and Tomkins to be our defensive bedrock for years to come.

We'll miss him if he goes.

If he is running down his contract how else can you describe it apart from screwing the club and looking after no one but himself?

Good player and served us well but he isn't better than west ham imo

That goal against the Pikies has gone to his head.
Yes he's a good player on his day, but G&S have it right - he's not worth more than they are offering.
On this seasons performances - Collins has been our best center half.

If we can get £3m+ then let him go.

The Kiwi guy needs to remember who made his career..

Simon Webster, yes agreed I thought he was mustard, before the injury. Bilic was superb again before getting greedy.

I'd rather we kept him until the summer rather than let him go for a measly 3mil. His presence might be the difference for a euro spot.
